The Eighth Symposium on Trends in Functional Programming
TFP 2007
April 2-4, 2007
New York, USA

Invited Speaker: John McCarthy, Stanford University

Empire State Building At Night    GE Building / Rockefeller Center

The Symposium on Trends in Functional Programming (TFP) is an international forum for researchers with interests in all aspects of functional programming languages, focusing on providing a broad view of current and future trends in Functional Programming. It aspires to be a lively environment for presenting the latest research results through acceptance of extended abstracts. A formal post-symposium refereeing process then selects the best papers presented at the symposium for publication in a high-profile volume.

We cordially invite professional and student researchers from both academia and industry interested in functional programming to attend the 2007 TFP symposium. All attendees are strongly encouraged to submit an extended abstract describing their research work for consideration by the program committee for presentation at the symposium. We are proud to announce that for the first time the TFP symposium will be held in the USA and is being co-hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Seton Hall University and the Department of Computer Science of the City College of New York. TFP 2007 will be held April 2-4, 2007 at the City College of New York in Manhattan, New York City.

Submissions

TFP submissions may consider any aspect of functional programming: theoretical, implementation-oriented, or more experience-oriented. Applications of functional programming techniques to other languages are also welcomed. See the call for papers for further details, or contact the programme chair.

Acceptance to the symposium is by extended abstracts of between 6 and 10 pages. Full papers for accepted abstracts are to be submitted before the symposium for publication in the draft proceedings and on-line. All TFP authors will be invited to submit revised versions of their TFP contributions for post-symposium publication. These will be reviewed by the program committee using normal conference standards and a subset of the best papers, over all categories, will be selected for publication. As done by past versions of TFP, the TFP 2007 post-symposium proceedings are expected to be published by Intellect in the series Trends in Functional Programming.

See the call for papers for further details.

City University of New York

The TFP symposium is the successor to the outstanding series of Scottish Functional Programming Workshops. Previous TFP symposia were held in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2003 (co-located with IFL), in Munich, Germany in 2004, in Tallinn, Estonia in 2005 (co-located with ICFP and GPCE) and in Nottingham, UK in 2006 (co-located with Types). For further general information about TFP, see http://www.tifp.org.
